Does Anyone Have Advice How To Help Others Understand How Severe An Allergy Can Be!?
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question đź’

I am newly diagnosed (less than three weeks) and my husband just is not getting how severely allergic I am to shellfish! He made me react twice. The first time was a learning curve! Second time he used a pan and didn't clean it well I used it later to cook land I ended up in the hospital! I know it takes awhile for everyone to learn to live with allergies but does anyone have advice that would help to speed the process along! Thanks so much!!!

Finding A Job With Allergies?
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question đź’

[Hello! This has been a wonderful place to lurk in the past couple of days. So glad to have found this site!!]

I have loads of food allergies, and many of them I will have reactions to just being in the same room with them. So on top of the added stress to being out in public or eating out, is the stress of finding a job. Both my mother and sister have held a few local jobs here, and all of them have had break rooms where people brought in major allergens. One of them was a Kmart, where… read more

Informing Wait Staff And Food Service People Regarding Food Allergies
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question đź’

When I go out to restaurants, the first thing I do before I order is inform the server that I have allergies to Gluten and Dairy; even if the restaurant didn't have a dedicated menu, which a lot don't, I can always scan the menu for stuff I can eat and ask for modifications if necessary. When I was out to eat with my fiance tonight, we went to a diner we usually go to once a year when we are in that locale, I tried to inform my server about my allergies and she got nasty, saying there was "no… read more

How Do You Explain To Restaurants That You Have Food Allergies And How Do You Know They Listen Yo You?
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question đź’

How do you explain to restaurants that you have food allergies and how do you know they listen yo you? I have a selected few restaurants I go to, and when I have to go to a new one I feel like my life is in danger...which it technically is (hehe) seeing as my anaphalaxis has reached a point where I have an epipen with me at all times, and even then I do not have long to get to a doctor...just wondering how everyone else copes with restaurants and take away places...

What Medical Diagnosis Catagory Do I Fall Into?
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question đź’

I have been sick for early 12 years. I have so many food intolerances including gluten, sugar alcohols, and even intolerances to facial creams, sunscreens, and just about every topical lotions that absorb into my skin. Recently I purchased a L’Oreal product that was gluten-free and fragrance free but I still broke out in hives and a burning rash. My primary care placed me on prednisone. What in the world is going on with my body? The 25+ doctors over the years have no idea. I’m beyond… read more

It is totally normal to feel anxious about eating once you've been diagnosed, especially if it comes later in life. While living with any food allergy is not easy, it is definitely manageable! Once… read more

Hello, Could You Tell Me Which Is More Accurate...the Skin Prick Test Or A Blood RAST Test Please? Thank You

RAST is more accurate, but expensive. No matter what the test shows, you still need to listen to your body more.
