You will likely be asked to write down all you eat and drink for a period of time. It's very important to include in your food diary all of your symptoms as they occur. Be sure to list everything you put in your mouth, including meds, supplements, toothpaste, mouthwash, and even lip balm. If you bring a food diary with you, the session is likely to be more productive.
I think its best to get tested first. I tried eliminating things only to be eating other things that bothered me. Its very hard trying to work backwards but if you test first you'll know safe foods.
Hi Tiffany,
I am a registered/licensed dietitian (with food allergies and sensitivities myself) and basically create elimination diets for a living, therefore I don't think it's appropriate to answer your question here. I don't want my response to be viewed as a solicitation. However, you and anyone else is more than welcome to contact me privately to answer questions regarding dietary treatment of food allergies, sensitivities, and intolerances. My website is www.livewellnutritionconsulting.com If I don't hear from you, best of luck at your appointment!
