How do you explain to restaurants that you have food allergies and how do you know they listen yo you? I have a selected few restaurants I go to, and when I have to go to a new one I feel like my life is in danger...which it technically is (hehe) seeing as my anaphalaxis has reached a point where I have an epipen with me at all times, and even then I do not have long to get to a doctor...just wondering how everyone else copes with restaurants and take away places...
I'm in the US & it may be different for you in S.A. When i go out to eat, I assume the restaurant doesn't really care about my food allergies & they assume that if I came to eat their food, I… read more
We are making laminated cards in French and Italian to show waiters and store proprietors and to explain this is life or death-Allergic specifically to Cashew and pistachios and pink peppercorn.
I'm sorry but I just now found your message from a couple months ago! We had a fabulous time and were able to allow our daughter to eat at most every restaurant we visited! We always asked before we… read more
I am writing a book on raising children with deadly food allergies and I would like to know how other families handle sibling dynamics.
My oldest child has food and med allergies. I cook most of things myself, even gateau. We do not eat out. And if we go somewhere i always pack the same food for everyone without allergens. Its not… read more
He typically eats chicken, pork and ground beef. Rice, corn and potatoes are fine. I just want to be able to shop at the Walmart in Mazatlan and know that their labeling is accurate. This is a huge leap of faith for me and I'm scared.
tengo allerjia a la leche y mariscos y pescado y fresas y soja y cerdo works for me
My 13 month old has recently been diagnosed with severe allergies to milk, eggs, tree nuts and peanuts. She is currently on Nutramigen formula and I am looking for a milk to switch her to. Our pediatric allergist recommended soy milk that is not made in a facility not produced with other allergens. I have contacted companies and cannot find a product. Does anyone know of one?
I am considering Organic Dream Soy Milk, Good Karma FlaxMilk, and So Delicious Coconut Milk... But all of these… read more

I've never been told or given a list of ingredients that have hidden gluten, I need to know so I can stop getting glutened.
Go to the FARE website. They list a ton of ingredients that contain Wheat and the gluten protein. You can print out the list and take it with you when reading labels. Also, look for how the… read more
Our pediatrician wants me to introduce my 5 month old to peanuts. She said that they have been informed from the Medical Board with scientific studies that actually introducing known food allergens to a baby earlier in life while their immune system is still developing has shown to greatly reduce the chances of developing that particular allergy since their bodies learn that it's "normal" and not something foreign. I'm all for this because she showed me the information and it does make sense. My… read more

I'm slowly figuring out how to cook without chicken and dairy. Its harder than it looks. However when my airborne allergies flare up its best to avoid all my major and minor allergies. That would be chicken, corn, tomatoes, dairy, msg, whole wheat, & egg yolks. I've converted to Soy Milk, egg whites in a carton, and vegetable based stock or bullion. My question for you all is where can I find recipes that are common allergen free and easy to make?
Thanks!
What is egg free Diet do you have recipes on it
I have very bad allergies to all NUTS and when I react my reaction is so bad I loose all sense of awareness I need to order a medical band to show people I have allergies and an Epi-pen so j can get help when needed.
I had gotten my 13 year old daughter a necklace, that looks amazing is like dog tags. On one side is her name and blood type. On back it says severe peanut allergy
I am having a hard time handling my allergy. Partly because it's rare and people don't think about what it means and partly because alcohol is EVERYWHERE. I have been trying to be better about always telling waiters that their needs to be no alcohol in my food because I am allergic but i still get ignored alot because they believe the "alcohol cooks off" myth. But even if i manage to avoid it in food I often walk into a bathroom and someone has gone crazy spraying deodorant/perfume and I spend… read more
