How Do You Explain To Restaurants That You Have Food Allergies And How Do You Know They Listen Yo You?
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

How do you explain to restaurants that you have food allergies and how do you know they listen yo you? I have a selected few restaurants I go to, and when I have to go to a new one I feel like my life is in danger...which it technically is (hehe) seeing as my anaphalaxis has reached a point where I have an epipen with me at all times, and even then I do not have long to get to a doctor...just wondering how everyone else copes with restaurants and take away places...

I'm in the US & it may be different for you in S.A. When i go out to eat, I assume the restaurant doesn't really care about my food allergies & they assume that if I came to eat their food, I… read more

Has Anyone Ever Traveled To Mexico? My Son Has So Many Allergies That We Never Eat Out.
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

He typically eats chicken, pork and ground beef. Rice, corn and potatoes are fine. I just want to be able to shop at the Walmart in Mazatlan and know that their labeling is accurate. This is a huge leap of faith for me and I'm scared.

Anyone Have Lunch Ideas For Eating During Work Training?
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I will be out of town for training with my work. I will be at a facility that will provide meals. I have never had success with eating when someone has catered the food in. I will not have access safe restaurants and will not have my own transportation nor familiarity with the area to try to venture away on my own. I am looking for something that I can brown bag to take to eat at the hotel and during the conference. I have Peanut, Tree Nut, Shellfish and Iodine allergies. Thanks in… read more

Contact the organizer of the training and inform them of the food allergy. It’s the same as accommodating people with mobility disabilities, etc.

If allergens are air born, place the mask over child's face. We are doing that every time flying.

Food Allergy
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello All
I recently had a severe allergic reaction and was almost about to pass out, i took 2 benadryl tablets and I was lucky that my symptoms were under control within 2 hours. I went to see an Allergy doctor and he said he can't pin point what i am allergic too. I want to get to the root cause of this problem so my question is would it help going to an infectious disease doctor who can do further testing and see if there is any autoimmune disease going on that's causing this to happen? Has… read more

Travelling On Emirates To Maldives With Severe Milk, Nuts, Sesame And Egg Allergies
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi
We have been on holiday, but later on this year we are going to the Maldives. Would be great to read any advice that you think would help us on our journey! 3 girls with severe allergies and myself. We're flying Emirates to Dubai then Dubai on to Male. We chose a resort that didn't serve buffet style food as that would not be helpful for our allergies. We felt we couldn't compromise on the food in a resort. Many thanks Sarah x
