Food Intolerance Vs. Allergy
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have food intolerances. I get very sick with wheat. It feels like I'm going to die. I my skin test showed a giant hive for wheat, but my blood work is neg. I had a positive skin test for dairy, but I can eat it with no problems. I don't understand.

A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member

My doctor and others told me not allergic bc none of my "intolerances" show up in my blood work. Won't even consider skin testing. 🤯😕

Where Do I Start?
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have recently been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis and my inflammation levels are not coming down. I am waiting to see a Rheumatologist but my one doctor thinks I might have Fibromyalgia as well. A lot of people have told me that I need to try and figure out if something I am eating is causing the inflammation. How do I do the elimination diet? Where do I start?

I agree with a food diary, also noting how you feel after eating whatever it was you ate. Just note that you may have delayed reactions, such as a few hours until the next day. For example, I am… read more

Anaphylaxis is the result of the immune system, the body's natural defense system, overreacting to a trigger. This is often something you're allergic to, but not always. Common anaphylaxis triggers… read more

Did You Know About CORN VINEGAR? - The Sneaky Ingredient Hidden Under The Label As Ordinary "vinegar"
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

So, a couple of weeks ago on Facebook, I posted about "being killed by ketchup". That post was because I had bought a Simple Truth Organic Ketchup from Kroger and based on the ingredient label and the full overall label, I should have had zero trouble with the ketchup. But... the first time I used it, I had a severe reaction similar to when I am exposed to corn. I also had another product that I hadn't bought before and I blamed the other product. The following week I had the ketchup again and… read more

Holistic Treatments? NAET/OIT...
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm finding myself a bit frustrated. A friend recommended me trying a natural/holistic treatment called NAET. She swears by it, but she has more sensitivities tip certain foods than out right allergic reactions. I'd read about it and did some research. It had pros and cons, but I did seek out a naturopathic doctor to see if or how this would work. When I saw him, he said "If this was a proven cure for severe food allergies and people had access to this, no one would have severe food allergies."… read more

A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have reactions at different times of the year where my hayfeaver reacts to natural plant foods and causes an allergic reaction. I find it hard to stick to a health diet as most of the things im allergic to are healthy.

Aw, heck. I'm allergic to ragweed, as well. I learned the hard way chamomile tea is closely related to ragweed. I gave my big bag of chamomile away.

Food Allergy
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello All
I recently had a severe allergic reaction and was almost about to pass out, i took 2 benadryl tablets and I was lucky that my symptoms were under control within 2 hours. I went to see an Allergy doctor and he said he can't pin point what i am allergic too. I want to get to the root cause of this problem so my question is would it help going to an infectious disease doctor who can do further testing and see if there is any autoimmune disease going on that's causing this to happen? Has… read more

Safe Deoderant For Peanut And Tree Nut Allergies
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 9 year old (Peanut and tree nut allergies) started using natural deoderant (crystal brand) and has not had any problems, though we are now considering trying something a bit stronger and am worried about hidden ingredients that she may be allergic to. She did try Dove sensitive skin antipersperant/deoderant and she did say it stung her skin and could see some redness.

We welcome any suggestions. Thanks!
