Traveling With Nut Allergy
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone been to either the Bahamas, Jamaica or Turks and Caicos and have a severe nut allergy? I would like to plan a vacation and need recommendations on where it would be safe to stay and eat. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you

I did need to tell the Cruise in advance about my food allergies. I had to talk to their staff in a lot of detail to make sure they could keep me safe.

We are going on our second cruise and getting nervous again with my son's allergy. (Peanut, sesame & mango). Our first cruise was fine, they totally looked after my son. We are going on a different cruise ship this time, hopefully the level of service is the same. They said I am allowed to bring our own bread.(most bread has sesame or may contain).

If your taking a Cruise for the trip make sure to tell them when you are booking. Same if you are staying at a place like Sandles and Breaches.

I traveled to Bahamas, but was really only there through a cruise ship. The cruise ship was really good about my food allergies, although it meant needing to dine in the dining room. The cruise ship also provided me a safe lunch for day trips even if food wasn't provided to anyone else on that trip.
