I have food intolerances. I get very sick with wheat. It feels like I'm going to die. I my skin test showed a giant hive for wheat, but my blood work is neg. I had a positive skin test for dairy, but I can eat it with no problems. I don't understand.
My doctor and others told me not allergic bc none of my "intolerances" show up in my blood work. Won't even consider skin testing. 🤯😕
My daughter went on a field trip and wanted a school bagged lunch. Our previous school district was great with separating lunches for allergies. Yesterday my daughter had PB&J in her lunch. She rolled with it very well. Tried to tell the teachers, but she said nothing happened. Her lunch was raisins, chips, and an apple. She said it was ok because she was full after that. So happy she spoke up and made good choices, but worried it could have been worse. Will be talking with the school tomorrow… read more
Good job, mom. My son once got pneumonia cuz the Y kept giving him HiC to drink although I told them not to. It’s loaded with corn and he was not old enough to tell them at 2 yo.
I'm a student journalist who wants to learn more about how non-allergic siblings navigate life with an allergic sibling.
I am not sure that we can direct message. Feel free to message me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/crimson.johnson.5/
RAST is more accurate, but expensive. No matter what the test shows, you still need to listen to your body more.

I am writing a book on raising children with deadly food allergies and I would like to know how other families handle sibling dynamics.

You can download these cards which you customize with your allergies or food intolerances. Laminate them and give one to your server when you go out to eat and ask them to show the chef. If you have foods that would require you to use your epipen if eaten - be… read more
I've almost always been thanked for using my chef card, I even make one in Spanish and French for when I travel. Only twice have I been told "we don't have anything you can eat". I also make sure I… read more
My daughter had an allergy test done which came up positive for eggs, milk, soy, dust mites, dander, mould, grass, wheat and her highest being peanuts. So I just want to find out if tree nuts will also affect her since it was not specifically mentioned on her allergy test results.
I learned through allergy tests that I can have tree nuts but not peanuts unless the nuts are roasted in peanut oil. However, I can have Chick-fil-A.
In another question thread, several people have mentioned that at points they have made Food Diaries to help them figure out allergies and symptoms. I would like everyone to share here their strategies in making a good Food Diary so we can help the newly diagnosed or those who have recently developed a new food allergy to join their regular food allergies.
I have another health problem (Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis) that is also affected by food, so I just used the same kind of Food Diary… read more
