I have been diagnoised with severe food allergies & Severe asthma (also skin allergies) a while ago. I have recently met with a specialist who is an immunologist and she seems to now think I have either Mast cell actvation disorder or actually lupus.
I just wanted to see if there is anyone here who has been diagnosed with either condition and is this a common crossover or something people can develop?
@A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member Been away for Easter with grandkids. Finally talked with neighbour with Lupus. She says she is borderline at best for lupus. Her autoimmune system can be comprised and she has a few symptoms, like bleeding in the mouth. (she was checked in case it was cancer). The other guy with Lupus could barely breathe and move around. Originally the dr's thought it was
blastomycosis, as its fairly common in this region. He seems to be much better now.
Not much information for you but all that I found out.
Take care, be safe.
@A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member thank you so much for this I really appreciate it. Stay safe and take care
@A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member thank for that. I am shocked at the lupus suggestion but not so much the mcas as I was ticking off a lot of symptoms and signs. Thank you for asking the neighbour.
Stay safe and well.
Hi Weezer. Never heard of anyone having both, usually one or the other.
I was checked for Mast cell disease and test came back negative. My neighbour has lupus and I can ask her. Some time ago I joined a mast cell support group blog that I believe was from SAN Francisco. My symptoms did not relate to that group but lots of good information.
I also did a 4 month virtual with Wendy Busse from Alberta, Canada. She is very knowledgeable. She is a food allergy guru with knowledge of Mass Cell.
Be safe, take care, hope to hear how you make out.
