Looking For Siblings Of Food-allergic Children Who Are Comfortable Sharing Their Experiences!
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm a student journalist who wants to learn more about how non-allergic siblings navigate life with an allergic sibling.

Hi there! Thanks for responding. That makes total sense. If you are interested, I would love to hear more details about all of this. Let me know if you'd be interested. I'm writing a story about how siblings grow up differently in many aspects if their sibling has food-allergies and I think your story may have exactly what I'm looking for.

I’m fairly new to this app but would like to connect via a direct message. Is that possible?

Of course! They are both very young still (2 and 9 months), but we are definitely trying to navigate how to balance keeping the allergens away from my son while allowing my daughter to continue to consume them as she eats more solids.

Hi there! My oldest is highly allergic to eggs and peanuts, but my youngest has no apparent food allergies. We have to be extremely careful to keep my son away when my daughter is eating food containing his allergens. We were encouraged by our allergist to continue to feed our daughter these foods to decrease her likelihood of developing an allergy. It has been an adjustment, however, we manage just fine! We typically feed her these foods while my son is napping or elsewhere so we have ample time to clean up afterward.
