I have had severe reactions to cashews. The recent blood test said it was negative. Should I start eating cashews again?

I have found that if I eat organic cashews—not processed in a facility with peanuts, almonds, Brazil nuts( which I am allergic to), that I have no allergic reaction to them. I discovered this after having a can of toasted and salted brand name cashews. I had no test result reactions to cashews either.

Blood and skin tests, while helpful diagnostic tools, are not 100% accurate for food allergies. A negative blood test result does not necessarily mean it's safe to consume cashews, especially if you've had severe reactions in the past.

Never restart eating a food that has caused severe allergic reactions based solely on a blood test result. This could be extremely dangerous. The most accurate way to determine if you can safely eat cashews would be through a supervised food challenge conducted in an allergist's office. During this procedure, you would eat small amounts of cashews while being closely monitored for any reactions. This test typically takes 2-3 hours and medical staff will be present to handle any potential allergic responses.

Please consult with your allergist before making any changes to your diet, especially given your history of severe reactions.
