Maybe you should go to an allergist and get tested for more allergens, including milk and tomatoes. You might be allergic to more than you realize right now.

Have First Responders Ever Given You Grief?
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Last week I had an anaphylaxic reaction to a new antibiotic I was taking. I was home alone and knew I was in trouble so I called my local emergency number. When the First Responders (Firefighters here) arrived I handed them my medic alert card with all my allergies and told them that I had administered an epipen prior to their arrival. They started questioning me and giving me grief as to why I would have injected myself when this medication wasn't on my list of allergies. I was so frustrated… read more

Allergic To Carrots, No EpiPen, And Scared.
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a severe carrot allergy that started 15 years ago. After I developed the allergy (literally overnight) I found myself reacting to other foods such as, sweet potatoes, radishes, turnips, beets, watermelon, cantaloupe, parsnips, and various squashes. I live with my husband's family who seem to not want to understand or help me prevent a reaction. They do not seem to want to understand cross contamination, and they refuse to change their diet so that my kitchen is allergen free. (They like… read more

Holistic Treatments? NAET/OIT...
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm finding myself a bit frustrated. A friend recommended me trying a natural/holistic treatment called NAET. She swears by it, but she has more sensitivities tip certain foods than out right allergic reactions. I'd read about it and did some research. It had pros and cons, but I did seek out a naturopathic doctor to see if or how this would work. When I saw him, he said "If this was a proven cure for severe food allergies and people had access to this, no one would have severe food allergies."… read more

If You Have Had An Allergic Reaction To A Food, How Long Has It Take To Get It Out Of Your System? 7 Days Out & On Prednisone & Antihist.
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am wondering how long my symptoms will persist. I am taking prednisone, Zyrtec, Benadryl and Pepcid to control getting short of breath. I had been to the ER and received 40 mg of prednisone. The next day I felt fair, the following with small dose of prednisone, I felt awful again. Dr. has me on 40 - 60 mg a day for 3 days, 40 for 3, 20 for 3 and 10 for 3.

Just ready to get back to normal. It has been exactly one week since I was exposed.

Food Allergy
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello All
I recently had a severe allergic reaction and was almost about to pass out, i took 2 benadryl tablets and I was lucky that my symptoms were under control within 2 hours. I went to see an Allergy doctor and he said he can't pin point what i am allergic too. I want to get to the root cause of this problem so my question is would it help going to an infectious disease doctor who can do further testing and see if there is any autoimmune disease going on that's causing this to happen? Has… read more
