Where Do I Start?

Where Do I Start?

I have recently been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis and my inflammation levels are not coming down. I am waiting to see a Rheumatologist but my one doctor thinks I might have Fibromyalgia as well. A lot of people have told me that I need to try and figure out if something I am eating is causing the inflammation. How do I do the elimination diet? Where do I start?

Start simple. Use a food diary. No matter what test show, let your body be your guide.

Does Anyone Else Get Hives And Can’t Determine Why?

Does Anyone Else Get Hives And Can’t Determine Why?

My hands, fingers, forearms itch like crazy all night long. I have hives all over my arms, shoulders, waist, chest. They come and go so quickly at times. The hives and itchy skin aren’t related, according to my allergist. I’ve been taking 20mg of Claritin AND 20mg of Zyrtec every day and they helped for a while but my symptoms are back again. Doctor prescribed a medication called doxepin and wants me to take two capsules at bedtime and stay on the Zyrtec but stop taking Claritin. I’m not… read more

Does Anyone Have A Reaction To The Food That Causes A Reaction Hours After Ingesting The Particular Food?

I have a severe tree nut allergy, and I tried the challenge approach in the allergist's office. After 5 hours I ingested one whole almond, but because I did not show any symptoms in the office he told me I could eat almonds (ha, ha). I didn't have a reaction until 2 hours later. My tongue began swelling. Needless to say, I stay away from all tree nuts!

Does Anyone Notice A Connection To High Levels Of Stress And An Allergic Reaction?

Bit of a two part question here: has anyone noticed a connection to high level stress and an allergic reaction?

And if you have what changes, solutions or remedies - did you apply?

I highly recommend getting tested for various deficiencies that could cause pain in legs, to anyone who is having these symptoms. Only a doctor can really tell you what is going on. Failing this… read more

How Accurate Are SPTs?

How Accurate Are SPTs?

I was diagnosed with a peanut allergy when I was about 18 months old. My mom gave me peanut butter on crackers, but I didn't eat the snack, I just played with it and broke out in hives. She gave me a bath and the hives went away. I had a skin prick test when I was about 3 that confirmed a peanut allergy. I've never had a reaction to any food since, but I've also avoided all peanuts and nuts. I will usually eat food that says "May Contain Peanuts" on the label. I've never had an itchy mouth… read more

Blood tests are not accurate at all. Skin tests tend to be better indicators. But the best are oral food challenges, which I was freaked out to do. However, I did it - and am so glad I did. I know I… read more

New Allergies

New Allergies

How often do people develop new allergies instead of outgrowing existing ones? My e n was born with multiple food allergies, most have gone drastically down and he eats except for egg, when he went for his annual check up I was in so much shock of the inhalant allergies he suddenly has and never had before.

Has Anyone Had The Issue Of Benadryl Not Working For Them All Of A Sudden?

Has Anyone Had The Issue Of Benadryl Not Working For Them All Of A Sudden?

I have been taking Benadryl tablets for the last 6 months for itching caused by food allergies. I am obviously allergic to something that I have not figured out yet. I take 2 tablets and within 30 minutes to an hour all of the itching subsides. Also, I did not have any side effects like drowsiness. My friends were amazed that I could stay awake on it.

The past few times I have taken it, not only does it not take the itch away completely, it makes me extremely drowsy. I sleep for over 8… read more
