Just Wondering If I Am The Only Person Who Has A Reaction To Sea Salt.

Just Wondering If I Am The Only Person Who Has A Reaction To Sea Salt.

Grocery items I used to buy have sea salt included now. Some restaurants use sea salt now.

I have very similar reactions as you with all seafood/shellfish. But when I consume sea salt I immediately vomit within an hour. My stomach pain is intense and lasts for a few days.

I am allergic to shellfish and fish. I cannot eat sea salt. I get very sick. Lots of pain in every joint. But I can have table salt, no problems. Too many products have sea salt now. I have to find no salt products or those made with regular salt.

it's impossible to be allergic to Sea Salt. Must have been something else you ate. Sea salt contains just 2 main chemicals sodium and chloride. However, depending on its source and how it was processed, it usually contains various trace minerals like potassium, iron and zinc. all of these are essential for life.
no shellfish can be evaporated. Copepods are used to filter drinking water for millions. So No you cannot be allergic to them as well.

I can't have any kind of salt due to a non-allergy based disability (Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis). Salt gets trapped in my muscles and it hurts real bad.

In one of my allergy testings though the skin prick test turned up positive for Saline (salt & water). The allergist told me it wasn't possible to allergic to Salt. I have a horribly painful time with Saline IVs and have to be on constant alert during ER trips to make sure they don't give me that IV.

I am also allergic to Shellfish.

I have never tried Sea Salt, because of the whole Salt in general problem.
