How Do You Cook With Food Allergies?
A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm slowly figuring out how to cook without chicken and dairy. Its harder than it looks. However when my airborne allergies flare up its best to avoid all my major and minor allergies. That would be chicken, corn, tomatoes, dairy, msg, whole wheat, & egg yolks. I've converted to Soy Milk, egg whites in a carton, and vegetable based stock or bullion. My question for you all is where can I find recipes that are common allergen free and easy to make?
Thanks!

you can eat egg whites, but not egg yolks? are your allergies intolerance type?
We cook meat and two veg type meals. we have stir fried veg with fresh ginger, garlic, honey and soy sauce. we use rice noodles, and for you the protein choice would be pork or fish, or beef.
The corn would be the hardest I think to avoid. I take it you are okay with nuts and can have nut milks like almond? just to add a change. I would also look at your fats, olive oil and if ok with seeds try them sprinkled on salads. we have a similar list our daughter is dairy free, our son is similar to you, but cant have egg, tomato, mango, apple, pineapple, kiwi fruit, beans, peanuts some tree nuts. We look at recipes and just change them slightly. We got a recipe for vegan donuts which was easy to make. Twitter is a good source of info as many on restricted diets are pretty savvy with regard to recipes. I follow some vegan sites simply because of the dairy allergy, as well as allergy ones for the other allergies! good luck. concentrate not on what you cant eat, but what you can, as that list is longer!

I just google recipes or ask on my twitter ! Obviously we cook from scratch and over time adapted family evening meals that are ok for our list of allergies. thankfully my kids are old enough to cook and take over at times. We try and look for new things to try, humans can eat lots of different types of food. When our kids were small we used to aim to try a new food while on holiday. Food like snails and frog legs in France.
In USA holiday we tried a new fish, cant remember what it was, sorry! At home we tried cornish pasties. Like all food, if its not on our allergy list and is safe, we try! food is an adventure!

@A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member I find when I try to adapt recipes on my own they turn out horrible. I've seen some cookbooks out there that are dairy free so that's a start. For Coconut milk is it the same amount used? I used it once for butter chicken but that's often in butter chicken so it wasn't much of a stretch.
