Maybe I’m having a tougher time now because it’s ragweed season but I had to call 911 two days ago for anaphylaxis 😢

Members shared their experiences with different antihistamines for food allergies after someone asked which works best besides Benadryl, following a recent anaphylaxis episode that required calling 911. Several members recommended Claritin (especially the dissolvable form) for fast relief and Zyrtec as a strong daily option, though some noted Zyrtec can feel too strong at full dose and Benadryl can cause heart palpitations or long-term cognitive effects if overused. A recurring theme was the importance of using an EpiPen when needed despite hesitation, with members validating that anaphylaxis symptoms vary widely and throat swelling is not always present.

Claritin works fast especially the dissolvable ones. Zyrtec is my second choice but I take half a dose otherwise seems too strong. Benadryl gives me heart palpitations.

Do what you need to do, I understand because I have multiple drug allergies, (I don't mean street drugs, just medicines). I think people need to understand us, all of us with allergies are allergic to different things, not all the same...

Look after yourself,do you have to use an epi-pen? Maybe try an antihistamine before you venture out?
