I have problems when eating out because No one seems familiar with garlic allergy. They will say no it doesn't contain garlic but then I'll find out that it has garlic salt in it.
I ran a restaurant and encountered (a few) customers with onion and/or garlic allergies.
How do you explain to restaurants that you have food allergies and how do you know they listen yo you? I have a selected few restaurants I go to, and when I have to go to a new one I feel like my life is in danger...which it technically is (hehe) seeing as my anaphalaxis has reached a point where I have an epipen with me at all times, and even then I do not have long to get to a doctor...just wondering how everyone else copes with restaurants and take away places...
I'm in the US & it may be different for you in S.A. When i go out to eat, I assume the restaurant doesn't really care about my food allergies & they assume that if I came to eat their food, I… read more
Hi people, I have just about had enough of bland boring food just the same every night, some veg is allowed, little fruit and gluten free a must. I can't find a decent veggie sausage anywhere. Climbing the walls without them! Help?
Thanks I will try a nutritionist, coeliac disease I know about it's an auto immune condition. That doesn't bother me but having oral allergy syndrome does!
It does happen. Not much is known about it yet.
When I go out to restaurants, the first thing I do before I order is inform the server that I have allergies to Gluten and Dairy; even if the restaurant didn't have a dedicated menu, which a lot don't, I can always scan the menu for stuff I can eat and ask for modifications if necessary. When I was out to eat with my fiance tonight, we went to a diner we usually go to once a year when we are in that locale, I tried to inform my server about my allergies and she got nasty, saying there was "no… read more

I forgot to add- I literally foam at the mouth and will drool uncontrollably afterwards. No one has ever heard of this that I've talked to. I generally stay away from shellfish/fish because I'm sure… read more

Testing is a great tool and is very helpful. I have found that keeping a diary of all food and drink is extremely helpful as we are all different. It might just be the combination of certain foods… read more

I am newly diagnosed (less than three weeks) and my husband just is not getting how severely allergic I am to shellfish! He made me react twice. The first time was a learning curve! Second time he used a pan and didn't clean it well I used it later to cook land I ended up in the hospital! I know it takes awhile for everyone to learn to live with allergies but does anyone have advice that would help to speed the process along! Thanks so much!!!
I’m still trying to figure this one out with my husband… He was good about it when we first married, but the last few years have been awful with reaction after reaction. He’s seen them. I’ve even gone… read more
